There may be nothing new under the sun, but one of the reasons I so enjoy our guest Unshelved Book Clubs is that every cartoonist has a different take on the world. Today's guest strip is a great example. That green chalkboard is so simple and yet so perfect for a book about teaching! It comes to us from our good friend Jorge Cham.
We have a lot in common with Jorge. It goes without saying that we are similarly tall, handsome, intelligent, personable, and talented. And where Unshelved is set in a library, Piled Higher and Deeper is set at a grad school. Both strips are anchored by characters you'll recognize, in situations you'll either find familiar or get to know.
Increasingly we find that Unshelved fans are PhD fans and vice-versa, and that's why we were excited when Jorge agreed to share a booth with us at Comic Con International next week. If you're one of the 126,000 people lucky enough to have gotten a ticket before they sold out, we hope you'll come visit us both! Stay tuned for more information tomorrow about what we have planned there. And of course check out PhD and sign up for Jorge's free email delivery.

The other? Well...
The trailer itself is funny, although anyone familiar with the original must be wondering about the portrayal of Marianne and Willoughby. I know I am.
Mr. Gorrell’s poetry gives you a lot of details which sometimes will garner a reaction similar to “Why do I care about this?” but beyond these questions rests a subtle psychology and occasionally reminds us not to overlook what surrounds us. A great example of this comes in the poem Alienated Afraid of Furniture in Bedroom. (Courtesy of Lamination Colony)

I was recently dog-sitting and poor Toby had to wear the “cone of shame”. The vet suggested putting a t-shirt on him might work just as well. He was much happier (and way more stylish!)
P.S. If your dog is jealous, there are still a few Large Will Work For Books shirts in this color left in our store.

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a good fantasy to read, preferably a fantasy series.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks in advance :)
The Marriage Bureau for Rich People by Farahad ZamaMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Charming, utterly charming. It will be exotic for Western readers and will fill the gentle romance reader expectations.
Mr. Ali, retired Indian civil servant, sets up a marriage bureau in the veranda of his house in a coastal Indian city. It's a cross between a good Alexander McCall Smith novel and the gentle romance of a Austen type novel.
We follow Mr Ali answering his customers demands of brides and grooms, his own family problems and the sweet romance of his young assistant.
The style is a little dry and matter of fact. This is not poetic prose. It's more the daily life of people living in a modern India still ruled by traditions and castes.
I enjoyed it greatly for what it was a gentle romance set in a country very foreign to me. It made me want to read more about this country and its traditions. What more can you ask entertainment, a little education and a desire to know more.

Guest Week begins Monday! also I will be at San Diego Comic Con next week, at the DAYFREE PRESS booth, which is booth #1231! I hope to see lots of you there!

Hey guys I am having a Bad Day and could not get a comic done. Fortunately the lovely and talented Megan Rose Geldris whipped up a hilarious guest comic! Thank you Megan.
There will be one more regular QC strip this week, and then next week is SAN DIEGO COMIC CON GUEST WEEK (because I will be at SAN DIEGO COMIC CON, at the Dayfree Press table). I know this is a lot of guest strips all at once. I am sorry about this. Please forgive me.
See you tomorrow.

I'm curious to know if anyone else is working on the 1001 Books To Read Before You Die reading list?
I'm working on it as part of my 101 goals in 1001 days challenge (not of course that I plan to read 1001 books in 1001 days!).
I downloaded the spreadsheet/calculator recently, worked out I many books on the list I own and how many I've read and wrote a blog post about it. But now I am curious to know if anyone else is trying to read books from this list...?

Title: Tsunaida kimi no te wo (Your hand that I hold)
Fandom: Bleach
Pairing: IchiRuki
Genre: Romance, Fluff, and a bit angsty
Rated: K+
Summary: It was his birthday, yet Ichigo was feeling down. He was again longing for his mother, and to add to the weight in his heart, he even felt that he caused his sister Yuzu’s injury. Could his birthday really be like that?
This is an entry to the Daily Challenge in the IchiRuki Fanclub in Bleach Asylum as part of the celebration of Ichigo’s birthday. The theme is Obon Festival. And this is dedicated to all the IchiRuki fangirls and fanboys out there. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it. :]
Disclaimer: Bleach is owned by Kubo Tite. I am just borrowing Ichigo and Rukia and Yuzu and Masaki (Ichigo’s mother). Heee! :P
